Neuro Linguistic Programming

What is NLP?

Neuro means brain, linguistics language and programming coding. NLP examines our relationships between thought our communication and behavior.

How an individual accesses information through our 5 senses of seeing, hearing touching, smelling and tasting.

Example:

Visual— ‘That looks good’

Auditory— ‘It sounds real good to me’

Kinaesthetic— ‘I have a feeling you are right’

Olfactory/Gustatory— ‘I’d like to savour this moment’

Recognizing these representational systems in a person can assist the therapist to communicate better with the individual, giving hypnotic suggestions using the persons own system works better for the individual in therapy.

Metaphors

Metaphors are used in NLP to illustrate or make a point, to suggest things, increase motivation or reframe of redefine an issue. The individual can suggest his/her own metaphor when they are under hypnosis.

Simple example: ESOPS fable— The Hare and the Tortoise— slow and steady in life wins the race!

Time line Therapy

Take the person along a visual time line to the past to look at their belief systems in relation to a particular issue and change them or take the person into the future to see what is happening in relation to a specific issue once the issue has been overcome or belief system has changed.

These are but some of the techniques in NLP Therapy.
